I was searching the web when I happened upon a book review of Winged Obsession: The Pursuit of the World’s Most Notorious Butterfly Smuggler by Jessica Speart.
Immediately I was drawn in by the title of the book and after reading the review, I was enthralled by the storyline. I imagined an obsessed butterfly poacher, running through the Amazon Rainforest, net in hand, with a strange crazed look about him. That was it, my imagination got the best of me and I clicked straight through to Amazon.com where I’m proud to say, I purchased my first book to be read on my new iPad! But, I’ll have to wait for the release date of April 5, 2011 to start reading.
I haven’t’ been this excited to read a book about butterflies since I read Sharman Apt Russell’s, An Obsession With Butterflies: Our Long Love Affair With A Singular Insect which yes, inspired the naming of our business, Obsession With Butterflies
From the Author: “One of the world’s most beautiful endangered species – butterflies – are a lucrative commodity on the black market. And in the cutthroat $200 million business, no one made more money, or posed a greater ecological danger, than Yoshi Kojima, the kingpin of butterfly smugglers.”
“Winged Obsession is a tale of greed, obsession and sexual temptation, the story of the worlds most wanted butterfly smuggler, the rookie U.S. Fish and Wildlife agent who finally brings him down, and the writer who found herself at the middle of the story.”
